Sundermeier is 20 miles west of St. Louis, which features the Gateway Arch, numerous museums, St. Louis Zoo, Grant's Farm, concerts and Broadway performances at the Fabulous Fox Theater and the Muny Opera in Forest Park. Sundermeier RV Park welcomes you to Historic Saint Charles: Where History Comes Alive Every Day. Historic Saint Charles Founded in 1769 by French Canadian Louis Blanchette, has been welcoming visitors for over 200 years. Native Americans, traders, explorers, pioneers and travelers from all walks of life have been welcomed by this Missouri River Community. Historic South Main Street The gas lights and brick paved streets of this nationally registered historic district lead to over 125 craft and specialty shops. South Main is the largest designated Historic District in the State of Missouri featuring 88 restored buildings dating from 1790 to the late 1800s. Historic North Main Street This was the commercial portion of Saint Charles during the 1800s. The buildings date from the 1800s to the late 1830s. The present day historic area flourishes with dining establishments, pubs and retail shops. Lewis & Clark Boat House And Nature Center This is the permanent home of the replicas of Lewis & Clark's boats.
